Strike Action on 2.5.23

15th March 2023

One of the largest teaching unions, the National Education Union (NEU), has voted to take industrial action.  This industrial action is due to a national dispute between the teaching unions and the Government over Teachers’ pay.  This is not a local dispute between our staff and the school.  I know how passionately the staff here care about the education of our students, your children.

The latest planned dates of this industrial action in the West Midlands region, and affecting Clayton Hall Academy, are:

  • Thurs 27 April
  • Tues 2 May.

As a result of this we will be moving to remote learning for all year groups except Year 11 on both days.

  • On Thursday 27 April we will be open from 8.40am to the end of period 4 (2.20pm) for Year 11 students.  This means that they will be able to leave school site at 2.20pm on that day. We will be able to offer computers and revision space for any students in Year 11 who want to remain in school until 3.20pm.  All other students should be remote learning from home.
  • On Tuesday 2 May we will be open as normal to Year 11 students from 8.40am to 3.20pm.  All other students should be remote learning from home.

Students learning at home are asked to log on using Microsoft Teams and to follow their usual timetable.  Help in using MS Teams can be found on our website homepage (see ‘news’ item about half-way down the homepage), by contacting available teachers using ClassCharts, or by telephoning our Reception on 01782 367650 (open 8am-4pm).

Students in school are required be in full school uniform.

We will review our plans for learning as each strike day arises, to take into account the changing landscape.

The following information may also be helpful, for parents and students alike, in accessing online learning.
