Strike Action on 15.3.23 and 16.3.23 – remote learning for students

Posted: March 15th, 2023

One of the largest teaching unions, the National Education Union (NEU), has voted to take industrial action.  This industrial action is due to a national dispute between the teaching unions and the Government over Teachers’ pay.  This is not a local dispute between our staff and the school.  I know how passionately the staff here care about the education of our students, your children.

The dates of this industrial action in the West Midlands region, and affecting Clayton Hall Academy, are:

  • Wednesday 1 February
  • Wednesday 1 March
  • Wednesday 15 March
  • Thursday 16 March.

As a result of this, we will be moving to:

  • Wed 15 March:  remote learning at home for Years 7, 8, 9 and 10, with Year 11 to come into school as normal.
  • Thur 16 March:  remote learning at home for Years 7, 8, 9 and 11, with Year 10 to come into school as normal.
  • The Year 11 Art Examination will take place as planned on Wednesday 15 March.
  • The postponed PPE exams for Computer Science and D&T will go ahead on their rescheduled date of Wed 15 Mar.

Students learning at home are asked to log on using Microsoft Teams and to follow their usual timetable.  Help in using MS Teams can be found on our website homepage (see ‘news’ item about half-way down the homepage), by contacting available teachers using ClassCharts, or by telephoning our Reception on 01782 367650 (open 8am-4pm).

Students in school are required be in full school uniform.

We will review our plans for learning as each strike day arises, to take into account the changing landscape.

The following information may also be helpful, for parents and students alike, in accessing online learning.
