RACE FOR LIFE (Wed 13 July) Help us fundraise!

Posted: July 7th, 2022

We are holding our very own Race For Life event for Cancer Research UK!

Our students are the generation that could see ground-breaking treatments and cures for cancer in their lifetime.  They’re the rising stars who could be the researchers and lifesavers of tomorrow.  By taking part in Race for Life and uniting together against cancer, they’ll be doing something really special.

Cancer Research UK receives no government funding for their research, so the more of us who join the fight against cancer, the more money we can raise to beat cancer sooner.  We raised £1560 including gift aid in 2019 and hope raise even more this year.

Our Race for Life will take place on Wednesday 13 July in the afternoon during periods 4 and 5. We will have a 5K course and a 3K course with the option to walk rather than run so everyone can be involved.

We will be asking for a £1.00 donation from all students and will allow them to come to school in sports clothing, suitable for running, with a ‘pink’ themed fancy dress and accessories option that they will be able to add  when they are in their form class and using some time to explore the work of Cancer Research UK.

The kitchen staff will be working with us to provide a healthy lunch and the PE staff will be leading a motivational warm up session just after lunchtime.

Year 7 and 9 students will run/walk during period 4 (1.15pm-2.15pm) and Years 8 and 10 will run/walk period 5 (2.15pm-3.15pm).

Form groups will be organising their own fundraising activities to run on the day.

We have set up a Just Giving page that is linked to our Facebook page and our website and would ask that all sponsorship for our ‘Race for Life’ is donated in this way, please donate what you can to help.  We have set a school target of £2000 which is really challenging, but we believe we can smash it!

Together, we’ll be an unstoppable force against cancer.

Thank you for your support.
